So, this is kind of a lot of posts this week but, I have a lot of paintings that have been around the studio a while and are finally nearly completed. You can see the unfinished areas on the arms, shoulder and background but, most of the interesting parts are getting pretty close to being finished. I am thinking about stealing the title “An Understanding of Ones Worth” for this piece… or maybe not. Still a lot of decisions to make. In any case, here it is:
This one is pretty large so I think it deserves a few detail shots:

I think this one is my all time favorite!
Really stunning Nick.
It is definitely one of the best so far.
Thanks Marc. I have so much time invested in this monster that is feels good to have it start looking complete, even if there is still quite a bit of work left to do.
It was good to see the painting in person today, Nick. I also think it is one of your best. But each new one feels that way to me.
Looks great! Keep going with it!
Beautiful Nick. I love your color palette. Have you tried to use the new mixing brush in Adobe Photoshop CS5 yet. It allows you to treat lower levels like they are various degrees of wet paint so you can mix colors from the other levels. It is the closest digital tool I have seen to emulating real painting. Very cool.
Thanks guys! I have had to take a week off this painting to get some other work done but, I look forward to getting back into it.Ari, the color palette is actually a bit less muted in real life. Still made up mainly of colors that leans towards the cool side but, a lot more intense. I just upgraded to CS5 but I haven't really experimented with the new featured much yet. I will have to check it out.
