You may be right. I saved this one at a slightly better quality than normal so, maybe Facebook is compressing the larger file more to compensate? Anyways, good tip, I will have to pay closer attention to my image files when I am planning on uploading to Facebook.

facebook might not kill the colors so radically if you convert the color space of the image to sRGB before uploading. If this was shot on a DSLR, it may well be in the Adobe 1998 RGB color profile, (also may be in Profoto if edited in photoshop/other software)...That can all be played with in Photoshop/bridge/ACR...

Best/quickest fix is to simply link from facebook to another site, generally you still get the feedback from friends on the comments section of the posted link. Such as...www.gustavhoiland.comp.s. by the way, the painting, despite facebookification, is really great! Very impressed by the texture created on the skin and its contours

Yeah, I am pretty curious about what Facebook does to images. I have noticed that the color quality is very inconsistent and I have not yet figure out what I am doing differently image to image that causes the dull color problem. It's sad that uploading a photo straight from my Iphone looks better on Facebook than if I take a photo with a DSLR and correct the colors/sharpen/generally make it look sweet in photoshop. In any case, this one is the worst one yet so I am going to have to change my methods.

color management isn't tied to image quality/it's a bit more subtle and chances are it may not have any correlation to how facebook denies photos of their true... state of being. /it's a photo geek thing, mostly - learn more herehttp://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Color_management

But yeah, I mean; why does Facebook insist on making this painting look so dull and stripping away its bright colors. On the other hand, if Facebook does in fact hate that movie, it should definitely re consider its position.
