Start of a New Nude Study
Recently I broke down and hired my first professional model to sit for some reference photos. Up until now I have always used brave friends to sit for my paintings but, I wanted an image that was pushing the boundaries of what my (generally very understanding) friends were willing to do so, I had to turn to the pros.
I have a great diptych planned based on the photos I got during my time with the model but the best shot of the day was caught in a moment of dumb luck. She was taking a break while I set lights and checked the exposure. I snapped off one image to verify that everything was correct before we moved forward. The result was the image that I am using for this new painting:
It was not the painting I had planned on going into this but, the image was too good to waste.
Also, my two sunbather paintings are a part of a show in Waltham that will be running for the rest of the month. There are a bunch of good artists in this show so, if you are in the area head down to The Lincoln Arts Project on Moody Street in Waltham and have a look.
