I recently sat down to talk with Carina Wine of Abstraks Magazine. After reading her profile of Adam O’day I knew I would be in good hands and the article did not disappoint. So head to abstraks.com or, click on the image below to go straight to issuu.com and read the feature (along with a great look at the Distillery Gallery) in the December 2011 issue of Abstraks.

If you want to read more, check out past interviews with Poets And Artists Magazine and with my friends from Papercut Fashion Magazine.

Just a quick update with three new paintings that I am currently working on. Also getting ready to start a third large sunbather painting and looking for a model for another large scale nude. 2011 off too a good start!

Our annual open studios is coming up fast (this weekend!) so obviously instead of finishing off the paintings that are already in progress, I have started another large piece. Last year for open studios I finished a this painting of my lovely friend Kellen. It was always one of my favorites but compared to the new large paintings, it was starting to feel more like a study for something better. She is such a pretty girl with amazing freckles and deserves more. So, with that in mind I couldn’t resist starting a second, larger painting of Kellen.

As you can see, there is a lot of work to do but it is off to a good start.

Open studios at The Distillery is just a few days away so I have been working hard to finish a few new paintings, including this piece that I will put into the Open Studios show in the Distillery Gallery.

Tonight Could be the Night

So, since I spent all day cleaning my filthy studio, be sure to come down to South Boston this weekend and stop in to see some art.  (And of course, have some wine, cheese and tasty beer)  I will be here with my doors open from noon – 6 on both Saturday and Sunday.  If you need direction or some info on South Boston Open Studios and the participating artists, head over to the official web site, southbostonopenstudios.org or go to the Facebook Page.

I just realized that I have not posted any new art all month so here is a quick preview of my next portrait. Yesterday was such a beautiful fall day (and everyone knows my mood is entirely dependent on the fickle Boston weather) so I packed up my paints and ventured out of the studio and into the world. I was feeling good and the painting shows it. This will eventually end up layered up with text, similar to this painting. Anyways, here is 10 hours of non stop painting all captured in one crappy low quality cell phone snapshot:

Expect a better picture of this painting (possibly even taken with the best trail camera) to be up soon as the painting gets closer to being complete.
